One little trick I have used before is to file the little nub off the key, then you can use the key in any position :D

An impressioning tool would be much easier as it will hold the bitting and allow you to relock it with ease.

Can't use the key to put it back in position... meaning an experienced lock picker can pick the lock, set it in said position and leave it there. Making it really inconvenient for the owner.

It's not impenetrable, but it makes you appreciate the engineering that went into the tubular lock to make it more resistant to lock picking
