Disney World's Splash Mountain closes for good, what you need to know | LiveNOW from FOX

Fans took one last ride with Brer Rabbit and his friends on Splash Mountain before it closed for good at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park.

Disney announced last month that Splash Mountain would officially close on Monday, Jan. 23 to begin its transformation into Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which is based off the popular animated film "The Princess and the Frog."

In 2020, many people called for Splash Mountain to be re-themed because of its connection to the film Song of the South, which has been the subject of much controversy as many critics have described the film's portrayal of African Americans as racist and offensive.

I rode Splash Mountain in 2001, at Disneyland.
At 10 years old, I didn't see ANYTHING "racist" about it. I just remember learning names like Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit. But the Princess and the Frog, I can see as a more fitting feel to the track of the ride.
The only people who might have an issue with it, are the overly religious folks when you get to the dark cave with the voodoo/hoodoo. But hey. That's just learning about someone else's religion. Who cares?

I remember thinking this ride had scary monsters and then getting after the second lift I was thinking the drop was coming crying and terrified realizing it's a happy ride 😭

I and my kids grew up on tales of Uncle Remus. My dad told me and I have told those same stories to all my kids.. All this woke BS is heratige erasure.
