I'm a Christian. But I agree with you for the most part. It's sad that so many churches take advantage of people and build such massive empires. You're the first person I've heard set the records straight on missionary trips. When it's comes to kids, they're promoted as safe so the parents let them go. A guaranteed "safe" missionary trip is an oxymoron. It's meant to throw yourself out there for service and take whatever hardships come your way, even unto death. They're treated as field trips for kids, and vacations for adults, mixed in with some watered down form of so-called "service". I see much of society so content with being strung along for the ride in both religious and secular systems, that basic critical thinking is badly lacking.

To those that say "We will shut down if you don't give!", respond with "So be it! Because if that happens it proves that God is not behind your ministry at all if it even is one."

When God purposes to do a thing, it happens and is sustained. Period.

I haven't tithed in over 10 years. My money is spent helping others that the church refuses to help.

Very good video, sir. I no longer follow any religion, though I do believe it's important to give back. Giving generously can benefit even the one giving, so long as it is done with an honest heart and for the right reasons. It should be done for the betterment of humanity as a whole. Often, the best way to give is to do it locally so you can see the results of your generosity.

Thank you, Sir! This has become ridiculous!

Not a flippin Don't give any of them a penny. Go find a transient in your community, buy him a sandwich and a healthy drink. Ask him his name, where he is from, how he came into this hardship. Feed the hungry - cloth the naked - care for the sick and the grieving - and DO NOT GIVE the suit wearing punks a penny.

Chubby Rick Warren and Joel Osteen stopped by to thumb this down. They're afraid of the gravy train coming to a stop.

The Church is not dead. God will and has preserved his Church, but finding a good Church does take discernment. Buying a sandwich for a transient is not equivalent to giving to your local church. My Pastor virtually never talks about money and in fact there is no offering plate. The offering is taken by people putting money into boxes affixed to the wall near the main doors. I give to two different churches that we attend variously, but neither Pastor lives a lavish lifestyle at all. 50% of the money I give to each institution goes toward overseas missionaries. The remaining 50% is usually divided up between a ministry from which myself or my wife benefit, the benevolence fund used to help the need inside and outside the church, and the general fund from which the Pastor is paid. From what I hear you saying, I would say that you've either had multiple bad experiences, don't have much experience with the Church, or some mixture of which I'm unaware. Many Pastors are bi-vocational for the very reason that their church salary simply won't allow them to own a home and a car at the same time. When you can only make between $15, 000 to $20, 000 a year, you simply have to take another job. And I've known quite a few Pastors like that. A previous Pastor I had actually does part-time electrician work to make ends me. I had a Pastor who was essentially a bag-boy at the local grocery store for 15 or 20 hours a week. The Church is supposed to be a place of growth and edification for those who've recognized their sinful state and need for a Savior. All other purposes are secondary. I agree with you regarding the millionaire preachers, and there certainly are a lot of hucksters to who proclaim their religiosity. But I would not tell people to stop giving to the Church. I would simply encourage them to find a Church that is worthy of their money. They do exist.

A difficult one for me is this one. After a few decades' break, I renewed my Faith this year, mainly because I realised we are living in the End Times after seeing so many signs that are prophesied in the Bible's Revelation and I need to prepare. I won't go into them all.
The little Baptist church I attend with a couple of my elderly neighbours is one of the last in our small NW UK town which is now dotted with Mosques that filled the spiritual vacuum (as I see it) left by locals who have largely abandoned Christian `collectivism'.

I learned that the real running cost for every attendee is about £18 per week (US$24), this including the stated stipendiary of our minister, and if that is not covered or we cannot attract more church goers, this little church risks closure. I would not like to see this happen so will at least bear that in mind when giving. Loose change does not cover it.

That said, I must agree that there are a lot of charlatans about ready to fleece vulnerable people, very often the elderly, just like cold-call salesmen. Giving directly to the unfortunates in life, like my lovely 85 year old neighbour who helps run a food bank, would seem a much more meaningful and practical Christ-like endeavour for a Believer.

An interesting subject to have raised there. Btw, thanks for the mention in the last video Junius. I think it was about robbing? The only ones guilty of that at the moment for me are the corrupt bankers, which is why, this week, I have withdrawn another fistful of banknotes for safe-keeping and ordered yet more gold and silver! I will get even with them! :-)

Great speech Junius Maltby!Since, the early times in my life .I have smote anyone that says, "I'm not blessed enough or I'm not closer to god!"As a D-iest now and definetly a anti- muslim since I have read the quran (it makes Mein Kamphf look like a pop -up book but, I degress in that matter). As far as preachers go I think everyone should read this.

Tithing, much like prayer, forgiving, confession, etc., is one of the means to attain spiritual growth. By definition tithe means "tenth", but any large amount will do, and it does not need to be given to a church. By parting with large sums periodically it trains the mind to not focus so heavily on wealth, not fret for the future, but instead focus on gratitude and develop a spirit of abundance.

Yes I agree Junius that the majority of Christendom only serves as haze. I had to once shared your belief. It is also true that more evil has been done in the name of God then in the name of the devil. I can only tell you that you are being prepared.

I see what you're saying and I can agree with it. When it comes to giving money, be an auditor. Don't give to wasteful, fake, charities. Help people if you want to, but be wise with your money (currency actually). Seems simple. You're not trying to convince the viewers that religion is right or wrong. The message is to be smart with you're money.

very good video, and thank you, cause only in the old testament is tithing, and it is with abraham tithing with spoils of war of wine and bread, and if the tithing would stop 99 percent of the pastors would get real jobs, thats why they dont want to follow paul as commanded romans 16:25 1 corinthians 11:1, if you dont work you dont eat, were in such a apostate its sad and its the pastors fault, again good video my friend

yeah bro-- the whole church STRUCTURE needs brought back to biblical standards. I believe that the book of Hebrews 7:8 saying that Jesus receives the tithes is the only thing these days that get me to think we should still tithe: to prove Christ lives. It's best to invest in your passion and for Christians it should be God's kingdom. BUT God calls US to take new ground and move the kingdom forward

There are only two references in the N.T. to tithing and both are references to the O.T. N.T. giving is offerings and there is no percent other than in the book of Acts when it was 100% and two people died for lying about what they gave. "God loves a cheerful giver."
