Germination of seeds occurs in the dark, typically. All of the starches (energy) and nutrients needed to send up a stem and send down a root are (typically, not always) within the cotyledon of the seed. All that's needed is on-site oxygen and water...

"Just because you have a mouth, doesn't mean you have to put everything in it!" Spoken like a true dad. Lol

Dude, this channel is awesome! The Doc is so cool! How down to earth to just sit and chop it up while the video premieres. I love that.

I like the relaxed format too but long form is my favorite personally. I dig the juicy deets!

Definitely do another of these! Medical “oddities” are completely fascinating!!

9:57 plants really do only need moisture and usually warmth to germinate. They have nutrients supplied in the seed to last for a little bit until their roots get developed. That’s why sprouting seeds in a plastic bag with a paper towel works so well.

You can grow plants without dirt, and a plant specialist said the lung is capable of supporting the growth of plants.
There are x-rays of the tree in the lung.
I'm a fraternal twin, and my brother and I were literally next to each, and I got the main part of the nutrients from my mother.
I came out weighing 7lbs 6oz, and my brother was about 5lbs.
At the time we were the heaviest twins born in the Borough of Solihull in 1970.
We weighed inc the embryonic fluid over a stone in weight.
My poor
I don't know if we've been surpassed, but at least we were record breakers for a while. Lol

Hey Doc ! I hail from France, and remember the first patient you mentioned first, they talk about him on the news, and apparently (or maybe I confuse with an other story told about Pica Disorders) he was apparently known by the medical for swallowing stuff like a sort of plane blanket before and was nicknamed the living vacuum cleaner (name of the person never been disclosed).

Female squids actually carry fertilized eggs in a mucus sack and deposit them away from other squids. That mucus can survive quit a bit. That isnt to far fetched that they hatched in someone. Thats something a chef definitely should have caught. Its pretty noticable. These mucus sacks are bigger then the mother sometimes. It almost sounds like they cut up the squid but didnt wash it off.

I worked as a medical transcriptionist for more than 15yrs. I spent those years working in a level 1 trauma center & ER in a large hospital. I’ve heard it all & transcribed them too.

I remember watching monsters inside me and that would be amazing to see you react to one in particular was a fungus growing in a man who had a motorcycle accident I think and was found in a leaf pile and where he had his abdomen open it got inside him.

Hey Doctor, an idea for a video would be lightsaber injuries, both past and present star wars movies/shows. It seems nowadays everyone survives a lightsaber shot to the gut; the same one that killed Qui-Gon Jinn.

Doc, the boy with the bullet in his head that was recovering, died as a result of the seizures that came on from the head injuries, about a year after the shooting.

The fir tree story is 100% true. They even took pictures of the section of lung removed with the sapling in the tissue. Seeds can carry enough raw material to grow a small sapling. No soil required. Your skepticism is seriously misplaced. Again with the squid story. Completely plausible. There's nothing about the way they reproduce that would make it worthy of doubt.

First doc that actually speaks on topic and not waffles on about how he thinks he is wonderful . From Miss Molly in New Zealand. Go you Doc!

The prisoner probably swallowed the razor blades so that he could get a trip to the hospital, like a vacation from prison. Also, the pea sprouting inside the guy's trachea absolutely could have happened. When I sprout seeds like that, I typically put them in a damp paper towel in a Ziploc bag in a closet. The seeds don't need sunlight or soil until the sprout reaches a certain size
