The forward proxy and reverse proxy are two very confusing names. You just need to know that, from your perspective, forward proxy is outbound proxy, and reverse proxy is inbound proxy.

For example, if YOU are making request to the internet through a proxy, that proxy is forward proxy. And if someone from internet is trying to retrieve content from YOUR service, the proxy is the reverse proxy.
