Samoa's Prime Minister-designate has promised to cancel a $100 million port project funded by China. She says the island has bigger priorities than a brand new wharf. Samoa joins a growing list of Pacific islands that are standing up to Chinese aggression. WION's Palki Sharma gets you the report.

The new prime minister has spines. I worked in Samoan Islands as a teacher for nearly seven years. Generally Samoan people are very independent minded people. They do not allow any outsiders to subdue them in any manner. Great Samoa.

When my father was alive he and his company in NZ - Produce Markets Ltd. - dealt with the Samoan Govt. as NZ agent for their Agricultural Dept. back in the 1960's. He knew the P.M. - Mata'afa - very well. And his wife, Fetaui. We never met Naomi who then was a student at Victoria University in Wellington, as her mother had been.
I wish Naomi all the very best for standing up to the Chinese Dragon; she has my admiration.
