First step is learning to "buzz". Take off the mouthpiece, and practice the correct mouth shape. The "Embouchure", located near the "laugh lines" at the side of your mouth, should be tight, and lips together. You should be making a buzzing noise. Keep that embouchure tight. Then try that with the mouthpiece and keep practicing. Tightening makes the note higher (you need to blow air faster), loosening makes the note lower (still a lot of air but slower).

This is probably a little late but oh well. I play trumpet, and my tip to you is work in your yard embouchure and use fast cold air to get a clean sound out.

A little tip when starting out play with just the mouthpiece to work on embouchure and once that sounds right you can add the rest of the trumpet to it and play like that but because that is a brass instrument you will need to learn different embouchure
