Sultan Abdulmejid I helped the Irish during the great famine Ireland's main food source was their potatoes when the famine came it killed the plants and food of the Irish when sultan Abulmejid found out he vowed to donate *10, 000 silver pounds* but when he found out queen Victoria of england was only gonna donate 2, 000 silver pounds he didn't want to embarrass her by giving more so he did something smart he donated 1, 000 silver pounds and with the rest of the money he snuck 5 ships full of food into Ireland!!

The fact that both Selim | and Selim || ruled only for 8 years is a weird coincidence cus they also have a same name.

When Selim II died, Nurbanu Sultan put his corpse in an icebox until her son arrived in fear that the little babies he had would succeed the throne. As for Kösem Sultan; Murad IV had died of cirrohosis however Ibrahim the Mad’s mother HAD FORCED HERSELF to accept his death; at the end of it Kösen Sultan was strangled to death herself in the harem.

Mahmud I was allegedly buried alive.
He collapsed to the ground after Friday prayers and was buried after a short time, saying he was dead. However at the end of the condolences, a tradesman said that there was a voice from the grave and that it belonged to the sultan, the tradesmen rushed to tell palace management and the tradesman was allegedly never seen after him. reason for this is called the ambition of his brother Osman III's throne.

Noticed that amongst the Sultans, there is only one named “Suleyman?” Magnificent indeed!!

I’m Muslim, not very religious although I do love and respect my religion and I do believe in Allah. I was always fascinated by the Ottomans in general, not just because they had one of the most successful and long-lasting empires in history. Sultan Mustafa’s death is absolutely heartbreaking (2:20), imagine living 34 years in one room and die so young, like sultan Ahmed for example, he died when he was only 27. And Mustafa only had to live like that because his mother tried to dethrone Ahmed (Mustafa’s older brother). In my opinion, his mother should’ve payed for the sin of trying to kill the sultan since Mustafa was still a child when that happened. But yet he was the one who payed for his mother’s sin. I’m also watching Kösem (a Turkish TV show about the Ottoman Empire) which is why I know all of this (10/10 would recommend to everyone btw). I also learned some turkish words along the way.
