Bangladesh’s interim government chief adviser, Muhammad Yunus, during his four-day visit to China, invited Beijing to expand its economic presence in the region, highlighting that India’s seven north-eastern states remain landlocked.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Yunus urged China to establish an economic base in Bangladesh, emphasising that Dhaka is the “sole guardian of the ocean” in the region.
