Where Do Gorillas Sleep | Animal Facts for Kids | Gorilla Facts | Monkey Facts For Kids

Gorillas, just like us, need a cozy and safe place to sleep at night. But, instead of beds like we have, gorillas make their own beds, known as 'nests'.

Every evening, each gorilla, both adults and youngsters, will make a new nest to sleep in. They do this by bending, breaking, and interweaving branches to create a platform in the trees or on the ground.

Most nests are built on the ground, but some, especially those made by younger gorillas, can be found up in trees - almost like a tree house! These nests are usually built in dense vegetation or near the base of large trees, which provide the gorillas with some cover and safety.

Gorilla nests are quite large, as gorillas are big animals! A nest can be up to 2.5 metres across - that's wider than most beds!

Interestingly, mother gorillas often share their nests with their young babies until they are about two to three years old.

So, just like us, gorillas also like to have a good night's sleep, and their nests are the perfect place for them to rest and dream until morning!
