I love how you go around inspecting them and shaming them like Gordon Ramsey

As an Aussie white myself, I can confirm that yes, yes it took me longer than others to fully mature but now my layer of fat really keeps me warm.

I'm an Aussie, I shear sheep for a living. I saw your lambs for a quick sec. They are not doing as well as you want but are not starving.
I know what you are saying tho.
I just wanted to put my two cents worth in.
They are well looked after and I know will thrive under your care. It's expensive as fuck but it's time people see the reality of farming.
Love your content, keep it up.

The "Shit" at the start was so personal.

Katadin's are a similar breed, but bred in the US. They're generally more parasite resistant rather than foot rot resistant, which makes sense as internal parasites are generally of greater concern here.

Definitely shouldn't buy them as rams to breed your existing ewes IMO.

Hair sheep don't have wool, they have hair. They shed. Which is great if you don't want to deal with shearing. But when hair sheep are bred with wool sheep, the resulting lamb get patchy hairy wool which is a pain in the ass to shear. Like, WAY harder to shear and many shearers refuse to do them. So the hair sheep are really cool but I would not get hair rams for your existing wool ewes, instead I would stick to all wool or all hair, or separate herds.

Turns out I love learning about sheep. Thank you for opening up the dialog.

she's my breath of fresh air; a lamb wrangler and got so much personality with the dialect and the slinging of strong language.

Hey Taz, perhaps go into the history of breeding the Aussie White and the highly technical and EMPIRIC measures adopted to purify the breed to optimise its traits for good eating, good breeding and mothering, ease of maintenance and ease of butchering. Gotta tell you, I spent 3 months in the US last year, at Easter we wanted a few different dishes for a largish gathering of rels and friends. It took heaps of organising to get a few racks of lamb! I don’t know if you realise, in the West and South West US, they turn their nose up at lamb/sheep. After a BBQ of a few marinated racks of lamb, we had them line up for seconds. The first in line were those of Latino derivation, they knew, the “slow” anglos were last in line, behind the native Americans who picked up on the Latino rush.

Aussie Whites are becoming more popular in the US, now that there’s an “official” US breeder that imported them over. Good breed for US warmer climates, I think.

Sounds like they're more like what sheep were before we started breeding them for wool or fast weight gain, etc. More practical! Some breeds now are so insanely high maintenance.

Iv shear them all the time .. some don’t lose there wool/hair in Australia here .. plus termination in shearing shed for 7 years & there wool isn’t worth nothing to wool buyers .. I’m. A sheep shearer for 20 years 👍

Out in East Gippsland the lambs are soooo white, I find it especially cute when they have a few dark spots. Love love love

Hey Tara! Love your videos. Hope you have a good wet season. I can’t imagine the stress on you farmers. You’re doing well!

While the drought is definetly bad, at least your sheep are doing better then the average sheep here in the netherlands. We are having problems with an invasive insect that has been spreading disease to all the sheep, thousands are dead, a decent amount of farmers have lost most of the sheep they had (not trying to downplay your struggles btw)

You’re a better comedian than 99% of the poptarts we got in the U.S. I dunno how you got in my feed, but I’m here for the long run now 😂
