RIP Lord Ashdown, you were the reason I join LB and the party is now dead since you were not the leader.😢

This guy is living in denial. It's the EU That is collapsing especially with their currency.

Sad thing I find about some at Oxford University is how much it has bought into the trendy myth that there is nothing wrong with the EU and everything wrong with the UK (as Paddy Ashdown vocalises here).
He acts like the UK is the basketcase, so how come:
1. The UK has the 5th lowest unemployment in the EU (of 28)?
2. The UK has created more jobs since 2010 than the entire Eurozone combined?
3. Even at near capacity and with Brexit, the UK is * still * growing faster than Germany, France, Italy, etc?
4. Greece is still not fixed, nearly 10 years after the problem arose?
5. That NONE of the #ProjectFear predictions about the UK from the EU came true?

So sad that someone like Lord Ashdown could claim that the UK is in decline and the EU is not. One dubious EU growth statistic (i.e. the Q3 Eurozone figure being slightly better than US growth) and lower than expected UK growth does NOT flip the script.
Yet he gets such rapturous applause and no-one corrects his rose-tinted view, even though he is utterly wrong.

Brexit is not a sign that all is well with the EU.

'I promise to give way'?
You'd expect a lord to hold his word.

Remember what the Europe of Balkanized, isolated states in competition brought forth in the past. Two catastrophic world wars being the most prominent events. Cooperation is key to survival in an increasingly difficult world.

I have to give a group presentation in college on whether the EU is doomed or not... I think it is doomed, but I drew the short straw and I have to represent the "EU is not doomed side", it feels kind of disgusting...but i have to admit the opposition of this debate has been my best source so far, so at least theyre good for something

Well, the Proposition speakers were clearly inferior as ... speakers. Why didn't you invite someone who can better present their argument? Rees-Mogg, Anne Marie Waters, even Farage... too big names? Or how does the process of selecting speakers work?
