He also won 4 races in the world endurance championship, won the 12 hours of Sebring outright once. Won the German and European Formula K (so karting) championship title in 68, 69, and 70, finished second in the 24 hours of Spa in 1971 in the legendary AMG "Rote Sau." Won the European Touring Car Championship in 1974, and won the DRM title in 1975, 1976, and 1980...

He started in over 1000 races in his career.

That F1 stunt is just... A stunt that he didn't need.

Actually the worst performance from an F1 driver was when a driver was lapped like 20 or so times and was disqualified for driving too slow

Big fan of Hans haha I’ll be that guy though - technically he never got the classification of DNF bc he did not start. Despite being alternate, which is true, he never got bumped up. He only got disqualified bc there was no other reconciliation on the books to catalog him. So technically he failed to finish but he never even started properly.Being disqualified can occur whether on track or not so that sticks. It would be like fouling out of an nba game while being the 6th man on the court. Technically it can happen but only by mistake and both can’t go on the books.

But don’t let that fool you - he had pace and found success in other series. Proper legend. Guy just wanted to race damn the consequences haha
