Niv-Mizzet is actually still relevant in cEDH. He just made top 8 in the BIGGEST cEDH tournament ever hosted. I would recommend looking at Deaks build on the cEDH decklist database for a more effective deck. You don’t need Displacer Kitten, Isochron Scepter lines, etc.

I enjoy izzet, dragons are cool and drawing for damage is even cooler. I've slowly been building it for a year and learning how to pilot it. Its a fun combo deck and don't regret building it.

He's a time tested commander. Can be budget friendly and still win you games. His biggest issue is the target you put on yourself because everyone knows you can easily ruin their win cons and bulldoze them down if you get Niv out.

He's a great commander if you're a novice looking to get deeper into the game. He's like just outside the meta of cedh, but still very relevant and respectable.

Is he the best commander? No, but you'll probably win every casual game with your group, and he can easily compete and win against the more meta decks.

Interesting take on some things you have included. I do like the idea of Ojer axonil tbh. Make opponents really pay for playing a lot of spells

Welcome to the dragon party. It’s still relevant but the deck won’t play itself and you need to get LEAN.. leaner… leeaannn.
I started off w iso rev in my list cause it does just make sense. But you are a control deck you aren’t rushing to the win. And it gets stopped by Drannith same as Niv.
Lots of people play the list w no hard win con at all. And that’s fine. You’ll draw 80 cards, kill two opponents, they 1 v 1 w the exact 7 cards you want and all the fast mana dumped out and you’ve prob ruined half his stuff. Dragon beats is a thing.
Not me. I have one clean win con. Glinthorn. You draw all the cards and ritual out a Glinthorn, go to discard, deal 50 more damage to each player.
Nice thing about using Glinthorn is that you can combo off w that and a curiosity effect, so there is your back up win con and your hard win out in one card. I just saved you 20 games lol.
