Different Types of Hotel Guests...

This video was SO MUCH FUN to make! It was also inspired by many experiences I had working at hotels.

The "new traveler" character was directly based off an experience I had when I was working as a concierge at Walt Disney World. It was the family's first time ever coming to the parks and they had a TON of questions. They said they felt so bad for taking so much time asking about every little thing, but I was just happy they had done enough research to HAVE questions for me! 💖 I'd rather be asked a million and one questions than have a guest walk in blind and have a horrible experience because they "didn't know anything"! 🙄

The "expert traveler", "expert" in quotations, is also super common to see. People walk in with all the confidence in the world and think they are experts when in reality... they're clueless. 😅

And, of course, the "frequent traveler" is just that. Someone who travels often enough to understand what is and isn't important to them. Frequent travelers can and should still ask questions, but they also actually know how things work. 😉

If you have a story of your experiences working at hotels, or just in customer service in general, please share it with me! I may even make a skit out of it! 😉

Clean room + decent hot breakfast + functioning internet + free parking = Your hotel has done its job, and I'll handle the rest.

"They don't know I know this hack!"

This line parody is a pretty hilarious way of poking fun at these types of shorts on YouTube, Facebook, and Tiktok!

I used to work at an animal shelter in adoptions, and the people that asked a million questions always apologized. But I would tell them that I would rather they ask questions, even dumb ones, and they feel fully prepared than they go home with a living being without all the tools. Plus counseling and answering questions was literally my job lol

I want to share that you recently helped me get a better deal at a hotel. I wanted to make a reservation at a hotel I have stayed at a few times before. I should mention I live in a country where the main language is not English. I googled them, clicked on the reservation site, and called the number listed. As the agent was going through the terms with me, I felt like something is wrong. He clearly was off-site and didn't know the facility well, the price seemed high for off season, and worst of all, it included breakfast but not dinner. They had ALWAYS included dinner. I then remembered what Jessica had said about reservations through a third party. So I went back to Google, and sure enough when I googled in the local language, I got a different number! The first had been a third party reservation factory! So I got my room directly with the hotel, and while the price was the same, it now included dinner, saving us soooo much money. I also felt more confident that if any problems arose, the hotel could take care of it efficiently. Thanks, Jess!

I'm a mix of the frequent and new travellers, because I have traveled a LOT and know mostly what to expect, but I also have severe anxiety and do tons of research and script things beforehand. 😅 But the chill frequent traveller is 100% my mom, like I feel like I just watched my mom check in to a hotel. 😂👌

This hits all the vibes

Experienced: quick pleasant interaction
Newbie: A BIT annoying yes, but if their kind and polite I am glad to match that energy
"Expert": you get the 'service worker smile' and that all.

The fact that she's supposedly stayed there many times before, and still doesn't know what there is to do there is interesting

The 3 guests actually cover most of the people I interact with at the hotels I have worked at. Most fall into guest 1. Occasionally I get the super organized guest 2. As long as they are polite, I'm happy to answer any questions they have. Guest 3 is also occasional but they are the ones that complain the most and are hardest to make happy.

They may not know you know this hack, but they do know that it's not the hack you think it is.

Guest #3 is there to revenge all men on the old "I don't know what I feel like for dinner" 😂

3:12 "What's there to do around here?"
One afternoon, I was helping the evening shift with check ins (I was GM of the hotel) as one of the evening shift had called off and Monday night was our busiest night of the week. Two guys checking in, seeing that I was a guy, asked me about the topless bar across the street. It was a dive and I recommended a more upscale place seven miles away. About five hours later the same two guys walked in the front door, pointed at me and called me a really bad word. I asked if they were okay. One replied that they had spent 2, 000.00 there. Baffled, I asked how they could spend that much. One pointed angrily at me and both stomped off without another word. They called corporate and complained on me, ending up getting their room comped.

Unorganized?! If that's unorganized, I want to be unorganized.
