Worth noting that Noah has run faster than 19.46 once in his entire career. I really believe that even a fit Noah was going to struggle to beat Tebogo today, he was a man on a mission.

Based on how he eased up at the end of this race, Tebogo can probably run 19.3 high later this year.

Tebogo ran the perfect race and he's a deserving champion. Congratulations to him

So happy for Botswana
I remember Makwala being pulled due to illness. That was Botswana's year. Glad they kept rebuilding and investing in their program 👏

Tebogo has really been gunning for this. Every race he's run in the past month or two, he's been running like it's a heat and he's gonna have to run the final soon. I'm so impressed with him.

This was Deja vu from Tokyo: a likeable and soft spoken non-American upsets Lyles alongside Kenny B while Knighton finishes 4th. Even Lyles’ time was pretty much the same. It is a very real possibility that Lyles will never win the Olympic gold in the 200m, which really hurts his case when we’re talking about the greatest 200m athletes in history.

If people realise that Noah only ran a better time than 19.46s once in his life 2yrs ago when he was in that fast Oregon track and he was 25yrs then you should know covid or no covid chances of beating Tebogo were next to zero then we wouldn’t be having these what ifs

I had tebogo or Kenny winning but I wanted Tebogo to win and he did 👏👏👏 I am not buying Lyle’s Covid story he just shocked at the way he lost hence the cover story. Covid ain’t affecting no one no more. Did u all see how Noah came out on the track? He ran out of steam celebrating before the race even started

S/O 4 Africans in the OLY 200m Final for the 1st time ever! A reminder that Noah still hasn't run sub 19.5s in a 200m Final since doubling 100/200m @Major Champs having now run 19.52, 19.53 & 19.70 with his only sub 19.46s clocking being his 19.31 PB when he only ran the 200m @'22 WC.

We have no idea what would have happened if Noah Lyles had been fully healthy, but frankly, I do not care; the end result was Letsile Tebogo winning the gold medal in the men's 200m, period. Tebogo's performance was a testament to his talent and determination, and he is poised to replicate his success in Paris by adding the 400m to his repertoire. I suspect he will compete in all three sprint events (100, 200, 400)and the relays (4 x 100 and 4 x 400), which would be unprecedented, but he certainly has the fitness and versatility to accomplish this.

Tebogo's approach is reminiscent of the training strategies used by distance runners preparing for marathons and 10, 000m races, emphasizing endurance and adaptability. Training for multiple events is a significant challenge, but Tebogo has demonstrated that this strategy can work effectively. We've seen similar success from athletes like Allyson Felix, Michael Johnson, and Gabby Thomas, who have excelled in multiple events. Congratulations to Tebogo, and we eagerly anticipate how our U.S. athletes will respond. With their proven track record, I'm confident they will rise to the occasion.

Additionally, seeing some of our US 400m runners consider training for the 800m would be interesting. From experience, while the 800m requires more strategic execution, it shares similarities with the 400m in terms of pacing and endurance, potentially offering a new avenue for success. Think Athing Mu when she is healthy.

My guy, it’s Booh tswana! Tebogo got my attention when he was at the U20 Championship and when I saw him stack up to Noah in the 200m, I was thinking Noah better watch out. I got mad love for Noah Lyles, Bednarek, Tebogo and y’all don’t sleep on them two Zimbabweans.

Healthy or not i didn't see Noah breaking 19.5 especially after all the effort he put in on the 100m. I had Tebogo for the gold since his first 400m and the 300m world record. He was with was closing in on a healthy Noah last year, so I knew this was the year Tebogo takes over, Noah is one of the greatest but even next year, he will go down to a Tebogo

Tebogo is awesome. He ran for more than himself: his team, his country, all of Africa! (and btw - the betting line on him was 14:1! $$)
