Hello! I have been revamping my own essentials for the spring season, so I wanted to share the things I have added and what items I think you could add to elevate your casual essentials. These items don't have to be boring they just need to be your most worn items that fit really well and help make your wardrobe more versatile. I also explain the difference between your Basics and your essentials in your wardrobe. I know these two words can get used interchangeably but they are somewhat different items. I hope you enjoy! Starting last spring I decided, at 67, I wanted to look pulled together and elegant even when I am dressed casually, which, face it, I am 95% of the time! I started with the coastal grandma look in spring and then added warmer classic clothing for fall winter. The best thing I found, (and it was thrifted!) was my versatile khaki trench coat! Even if most Americans insist it's only for detectives, I know better lol

I got me a denim vest. It's just basically a sleeveless denim jacket. Hasn't been warm enough to style it yet though. 👍

These are all wonderful suggestions, and I'd like to add one that I discovered recently while trying to up my game since I retired - a denim skirt! It's a little more elevated than jeans but I can wear it with any top I would wear with my jeans! Mine is slightly A-line and hits me just below the knee, so it's also comfortable and cooler than jeans for our Texas summers!

First, I have to say, I love the camel striped shirt on you! Your essentials wardrobe is s nearly perfect, I thought it also might include one of the floral cotton tops you recently showed😊. Your wardrobe is a great representation of items to have and add too for one’s personal style. I love a denim vest, have had one for years. Another great video! I’m in love with vests too. We usually have a long spring so sweater vests with a button up and denim vests are my go to for denim skirts and jeans. Always comfortable all day long.

Love those fall colors on you! Trade the pink for a shade of green or blue, the right shade of blue may look great as a compliment to your hair.

Loved this video, Jamie. Very helpful for me to think of my wardrobe in terms of basics, essentials, then the other stuff. I have become very casual since moving from Memphis to the beach in Florida and my wardrobe has suffered! So now I feel like I’m starting over. Of course, my wardrobe needs are very different here but I don’t want to lose style because everything here is so casual. Thanks for your good tips!
