Welcome to Digital Nomad Academy (DNA)! In this video, 'Lec 1.0 | Syllabus Overview of Introduction to Computer Networks,' we kick off the Computer Networks course as part of the BSc.CSIT curriculum by TU. This lecture is ideal for students in BCA, BIM, BIT, computer engineering, and other related disciplines, and it’s presented in Nepali to ensure clarity and accessibility for all computer science students across Nepal.
In this introductory lecture, we will take an overview of Syllabus of Introduction to Computer Networks and Physical Layer chapter which includes,
00:00 - Introduction
00:40 - Connection Types
Point-to-point and multipoint connections.
01:19 - Transmission Modes
Simplex, half-duplex, and full-duplex.
01:35 - Types of Computer Networks
Including PAN, LAN, MAN, and WAN.
02:01 - Network Topologies
Including Point-to-Point, Bus, Star, Ring, Mesh and Tree
02:21 - OSI Reference Model
Layers of OSI and its comparison with the TCP/IP Model.
04:04 - Transmission Media
Guided (Wired) and Unguided (Wireless) media for data transfer.
04:22 - Devices in Computer Networks
Including Repeaters, Hubs, Bridges, Switches and Routers
05:07 - Switching Techniques in Computer Networks
Including Circuit Switching, Message Switching, and Packet Switching (Virtual Circuit Approach and Datagram Approach)
We cover practical applications of each topic to show how these fundamentals work in real-world networking setups. Additionally, you’ll get study tips and resources designed to help you understand and retain these foundational concepts effectively.
