The World's Steepest Cycling Climb | The GCN Show Ep. 219
Показать описание
We look into the world's steepest climb and want to know the steepest climb you've been up!
This week Ex-Professional Cyclists Dan Lloyd and Matt Stephens bring another action packed episode of the GCN Show!
We talk about some of the world's steepest climbs, an amazing 2017 Milan - San Remo and loads of tech as usual! Not to mention our infamous Hack/Bodge section. Wattage Bazooka is ever popular and remember to submit yours using the hashtag #WattageBazooka
Where are the world's steepest climbs? Let us know yours in the comments below👇 and maybe we will send Lasty around the globe to ride them.
Big races even tackle some horrific climbs too. Dan mentions the Muro di Sormano, it's 1.7km long with an average gradient of 17%, it's used in the Giro di Lombardia. Also brought to the table is the Koppenberg, 620m long and maximum gradient of 22%, on and it's cobbled! Then there is the Alto de l'Angliru, 11km long with a 24% gradient at it's steepest part.
However, these look pancake flat compared to the world's steepest road climb, Baldwin St in New Zealand. Baldwin St has a gradient of 35%! Have you cycled up it? Let us know 👇
Also let us know your steepest climb with photos/videos using the hashtag #GCNSTEEP on facebook/instagram/twitter
This week's caption competition winner was Steve Hellaby, please get in touch to claim your GCN Camelbak Water Bottle!
Dan mentions Milan - SanRemo winner Michał Kwiatkowski and how he picked up a fair few KOM's on Strava on the way to victory. Some very impressive stats there!
Matt keeps us up to date with the UCI Women's world Tour and the Trofeo Alfredo Binda-Comune di Cittiglio won by Coryn Rivera.
Tech of the week includes a home-made powermeter, Apple integrating a powermeter into the Apple Watch or is it an iWatch 3! A new short sleeved rain jacket from Assos, the Liberty Clima, waterproof and extremely breathable, we can't wait to get our hands on one! Greg Van Avermaet has a new chrome bike too, but we are confused why chrome and not gold?!
