My great great great grandfather was TN confederate soldier John Andrew Abbott. I'm from S.C. but my maternal grandmother's side are from TN and NC. Proud to be his and my GGG grandmother Winifred Brewer Abbott's GGG grandson.

My GGG Grandfather was John Andrew Abbott served with the 6 Tenn Infantry. He and my GGG Grandma Winifred Brewer Abbott are buried in Blount County. They were from Townsend, TN.

I got Confederate family members from East Tennessee, which is also where I was born and raised. As a matter of fact, the church I went to growing up was built on a civil war battlefield. While they were digging and building, they found a bunch of old black powder balls, belt buckles, and pieces of clothing worn by soldiers.

My 4th great grandpa served with the 12th Tennessee US Cavalry. I know he fought at the battle of Franklin. He actually fought against my 3rd great grandpa there. Then, their grandkids married. I would have loved to have been there to listen to them 2 talk.

I grew up in Greeneville and knew of the bridge burners and John Hunt Morgan's death. Of course, there's also Andrew Johnson and Greeneville held one of the conventions when East Tennessee was deciding if it should secede from the rest of TN.
