nice job. glad to see young people interested in this career path. I started machining @ 18 and I love it. and I have been doing it for 15 years now. side note: you have too much WIP stacked up in front of your 2nd side machine. you should run them simultaneously. run 2 machines and produce 1 finished part with each cycle. side-side note: you need more cowbell! lol :D

The Hurco machines caught my eye at CMTS this year, my boss and I spent a decent amount of time getting information from the sales people there about the smaller machining centers.

This is a good basic video, I would like to see some more advanced videos showcasing the limits of what those machines can do.

Thanks for all your comments, much appreciated! We plan on releasing episode 2 later in the week. Your support is noted and we will continue to show all the different applications a machinist can come across. The safety glasses comment has been acknowledged, we will make sure our guests machinists wear them! Thanks, the CycleStart team.

BTW, great concept! And I love the intro. Maybe one thing to keep in mind is that being a machinist can be completely different from shop to shop. You might show "the life of a machinist" at various places... just to give a more complete idea to the audience.

Ya, that's the fun part, watching the work piece take shape, but what about the CAD and programing involved? The best CNC machinists are the ones who have previously worked manual machines and have a good fundamental understanding of what works and what doesn't. You can take any kid who flips burgers at McDonalds and show them how to load a pre-made jig and press the cycle start button. I'd love to see a vid showing how much work has to go into designing and de-bugging/tweeking a program.

Let's see some 5-axis applications!

Machined all night & did college all day... It took 6 years, but that's how I got my degree. Companies will pay for that school, too. Just another thing to help promote CNC machines to all the young 'uns out there ;)

Your guest machinist should wear his safety glasses when blowing chips around! Aluminum is sharp!
