I love the new wider variants of Panaracer tires. I honestly think they give you so much more value than many other brands .

I’m surprised that tire makers haven’t brought back 90’s semi slick mountain bike treads for gravel. Great review as always!

Wow, didn't realize how big that tire actually is. Probably make your butt happier that's for sure. 😅

At that width that would be equal to a 90's XC MTB tire. Good looking tread pattern.

I have the 45 mm version in X1-R; they inflate to 47 mm on my 24 mm rims. I had to shave down the side knobs of the front tire because my fork showed signs of tire rubbing.

Good timing. I guess. Mine came in the same time your video posted

Interestingly, since the gravel bike's inception, people have claimed that a gravel bike is nothing more than a 90s hardtail MTB. With tire sizes approaching MTB sizes and individuals installing drop bars on MTBs, it raises the question of whether this claim was accurate. It also prompts consideration of whether gravel bikes will continue in that direction or if they will lose their identity. In some respects, there may need to be regulations in official gravel circles regarding tire sizes, similar to the UIC regulations for CX bike tires.

I could have sworn the SK came in a 700x50mm. What I really want and if you can ask Panaracer is to bring out a 700x50mm variant of the SS and Slick too. I just want a fat and fast tire without paying Rene Herse prices for their 48 and 55mm versions.

Hey Jom. I have not seen these tires in this width anywhere on the internet. Including on Panaracer’s website. How do I get hold of these tires?

We are at an intersection, wheels are getting lighter and tires are heading north. Rotational massive is your enemy, so the grams you save on rims etc is all gained back at checkout once you mount them 50mm.

ive been riding 50mm, now im moving on to 2.2's

How was it mounting these tires? I've loved Panaracer tires over the years, but found some of the newest ones exceedingly difficult to mount. For that reason, I'm now a little gun shy about recommending them to clients.

i hope this 50 will fit and replace my 43 gravelking at the front where a 2.2 couldn't.

I have the 45mm version. Rides like magic carpet on 25mm internal width rims at 28 psi f&r

I run Victoria Mezcals on my cartel cross country MTB with stands valor, carbon wheels. They’re a much shallow or depth and narrow rim dimensions than my gravel wheels . And they handle so nicely and my XC bike is light, maybe lighter than my specialized diverge and fast . I do feel my carbon fast forward drift gravel wheels are probably not the most compliant. I get so much rebound and kickback with size 45 Pathfinder pro tires I really have to be careful with the air pressure.

Now all i need is the bike that will fit these gobblers. I wish the BMC URS had the clearance. BMC got that wrong.

I can’t find 700x50 anywhere. Even their official site doesn’t have 50mm option
