Kyiv - London. From Ukraine with Cash

RFE/RL journalists Natalie Sedletska and Maksym Savchuk went off to London to find British homes of politicians and oligarchs who made their fortunes in Ukraine and with the help of Ukrainians, but prefer to spend them in the UK.

Embezzled funds from Ukraine’s Privat Bank ended up in both Dallas and major real estate holdings in downtown Cleveland. Optima Management purchased key real estate on Cleveland’s Public Square. A lawsuit filed in Delaware Chancery Court alleges Chaim Schochet was the front man for the purchase and management of this Cleveland, Ohio real estate. Surely, there are those who deal with Cleveland real estate transactions that would be aware of these shenanigans.

This has been going on since the late 90's with respect to super rich Russians & Ukrainians "buying property" (laundering money in the UK). Why is it that only during the past couple of years that the British government questions the origin of this cash. They knew all along and didn't and still don't care. The right kind of "investment" can basically buy you British citizenship.

I don't understand the reason for comparing the price of London homes to salaries of residents in Ukraine. It makes no sense. And also knocking on peoples doors without being invited while they are possibly inside with children is rude and proves the unprofessionalism of the documentary makers
