Unspeakable Joy | Changed Through Jesus Christ

It is an essential part of our earthly education to discover the unspeakable joy that the Lord can provide and to learn proper revulsion for the empty indulgences of this world. Satan’s spoils are poison to our souls. “Wickedness never was happiness” (Alma 41:10).

How long will it take for us to learn this vital lesson? If we allow pride to be our guide, we will waste much time and endure much suffering of our own design before we come to understand. But if we humble ourselves and turn back quickly, we will find redemption through Jesus Christ and avoid those hidden snares which the adversary prepared for us along the dark road ahead.

Ethan was humble! He saw the approaching storms in front of him. He noticed the light of Christ beaming over his shoulders. At an early age, he chose the love of God, and he turned around.

Whatever you’re going through today—whether it’s a consequence of your spiritual stumbles or just a circumstance that has you sitting in the rubble of painful past experiences—your Heavenly Father loves you. His Son Jesus Christ, your Brother and your Shepherd, is steadfastly seeking you. The Holy Ghost is calling out to you. God intends to heal you, to grant you joy in this life, and to bring you safely home to His presence when your earthly mission is complete.

If you find yourself staring into a dark abyss, look over your shoulder. The light of Christ is beaming! He is seeking you. There is nothing you’ve done nor anything you’re enduring that He cannot heal. Turn around and walk into His embrace.

I have the same experience. The Saviour reached out to me in barracks in Japan when I was 23. I went on my mission at 25 to Taiwan. I am so grateful for the Savior. He gave me a new life and redeemed my soul. Life is hard and the challenges have not stopped but I know in whom I have trusted and the light that was brought in my life is glorious beyond all description.
