Located on Corfu’s North east Coastline, Kalami is located around 30 kilometres from Corfu aiport between the villages of .Gialiskari and the more well known harbour of Kouloura.
Kalami can be accessed from the main coast road from either the village of Gimari to the South or via the turning for Kouloura to the North. The Kouloura road is the easier one and this will bring you down into the Village which is located right behind the beach. The village has just one narrow road through it where there are a couple of supermarkets and a bakery. Some parking is available at the Tavernas which line the beach but its probably better to arrive early and park just outside the village.
The beach is made up of coarse sand and pebbles with plenty of sun loungers and parasols available, with refreshments being available where you lay.
Kalami is home to the White house, where Lawrence Durrell lived during the nineteen thirties with his wife, Nancy. The White house now features a bar and restaurant which have great views of the bay.
Small motor boat for up to 6 persons can be booked locally and will enable you discover the local beaches villages for lunch. Agni takes just 5 mins by boat and even Corfu Town can be reached in an hour. No previous experience is required as boat handling tuition is given when the boat is supplied.
Speedboats are also available for hire for those with a licence.
Night life in the village is based around the four Tavernas where the local catch is available, fresh from the sea.
Sunvil has its own hotel in Kalami, situated on the hill side above the village and just a short walk from the beach. There are 12 units here housed on the first and second floors with a mix of studios and apartments. All are spacious and neatly furnished, with an air-conditioned twin bedroom, a kitchen area with 3-ring mini-oven and fridge.
The bathrooms have walk-in showers together with a hairdryer and a generous covered balcony with dividers for privacy.
Views from the twelve rooms are outstanding with Panoramic views over the pool area to the sea and Albania beyond.
