2024 Triumph Daytona 660 Full Power & LAMS Review

I test out the Triumph Daytona 660 in both full power and LAMS versions for the Australian launch, with the two offering a fresh option in the 650 class of bikes, that while not as premium as a modern Street Triple, has plenty to offer for their sub $15K ride-away price here in Australia.

Hi Kris, you hit the nail on the wall with the LAMS version hitting an ECU controlled max. Interesting that you found the LAMS one to offer more down low, as being ECU controlled they are identical in performance characteristics up until the ECU starts dialling power down at around 6, 250 rpm. Perhaps more of a but Dyno effect as nothing else is different (just like derestricting the old Street Triple 660).

Nice review as always. Just picked up a trident a few weeks back due to the more naked style.

Hi, Chris. Just wondering does the LAMs version makes a big difference? And also is it possible to derestrict it by flashing the ECU to full power and will it affect the modes of the motorcycle like rain, road and race. Thank you

Hi Kris can you say where that road is, it looks a lot like the road between Black Springs to Goulburn??

Was the white bike in the video the LAMS or full power version?

I always wondered if it’s possible to restrict a bike with only ECU tune, without physical, so to speak, parts like smaller intakes to the restrict the air engine can take like MT07 for example.. (maybe i messed up the naming here, but you get my point) 🙂

Looks good first impressions! I watched this just after the Bennetts Uk shoot out that featured it too and really loved the engine.

Tbh I kinda hate my inner consumer that wants the suspension, the power, etc. lol in reality you can always upgrade the suspension, I’m just happy we’re getting a full power version. So annoying when they don’t even offer them. Honestly I don’t even know what the point of the Honda 650 platform is in Australia lol.

Hope you get one for a longer review Chris, I’m definitely interested. Up until now the only thing close to it in a similar class was thr RS660 and too expensive, too race focused geometry and ride for the road imho. I tried to like the R7, but if I’m honest it just isn’t that comfortable or fun. Still hoping Honda drop a cbr750 though
