That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I can understand (though not agree) with censorship of other types of content...drugs, porn, violence...but to tell people they have to create more 'Canadian' content? What does that even mean?

Anyway, couldn't Canadian YouTubers just get around this by changing the home country of their channels and using a VPN to upload videos?

Whole things about censoring what gets out. They're just using "it's about Canada" as an excuse to censor whoever they want. I'd imagine their parameters will be incredibly vague and arbitrary.

I really fear for Canada. The writting has been on the wall for close to a decade now. I wish more people had fought back when they first started regulating peoples speach in regard to pronouns. This authoritarian progression was inevitable

Here in Brazil, we had something very similar, former governments had tried to do the same thing under the guise of "to protect and preserve the culture and history of our country". And at the beginning it started with censorship just like that.

But then another problem arrived, the government started sponsoring many things that were national culture and history related. And guess who decided Who and What would be sponsored or not? A culture/art/history specialist? Not by chance. The government would decide who is getting the money and what's being promoted or demoted.

Example:
Rando wants to create a movie about national bodybuilders. Budget 5.000$. DENIED.
Rando, who is a friend of a politician wants to create a performance on the streets using nothing but paper cups about the wonders of Paper Cups acceptance. Budget 75.000.000$. ACCEPTED.

And who could say it's illegal or unfair? It's the government who has the final word on the matter...
