This was fascinating. I'd love to know about more of these kinds of suspects. I knew of Louis Caroll, not that he had a thing for girls, but that he was a suspect; I had never heard that John Merrick or Van Gogh had been suspected. That is so nuts!

Interesting fact about Van Gogh—he actually sold many paintings in his lifetime. He worked for Goupil & Cie’s London branch selling paintings for a couple of years, from 1873 to 1875. He was actually pretty successful selling art to his English clients, and he actually had a higher income than his father did as a clergyman.

He never sold any of his own paintings, but he was actually, ironically, pretty successful at selling other artists’ works.

Well presented, the amount of homework done for each episode shows concern about presenting the true facts without engaging in cheap click bait. 😊

Have you considered doing a "Black out ripper" video? Loved the video btw!

I would like to add the Royal conspiracy (all of it) & ‘Jill the ripper’ into this ‘ridiculous’ category as well.
I agree with your suggestions and look forward to your next video Ms Morbs!

I do hope the Elephant Man in the picture isn't false advertising, I only clicked on the video to see how the hell he's a suspect.

I agree that the mere fact that Bernardo called himself a doctor when he had not qualified is not sufficient grounds to suspect his deception carried over to being JTR. However the fact that Lechmere gave his childhood name of Cross definitely makes him guilty.

I have seen *some* of the LC photos including a couple of notorious ones. One of Alice dressed as a beggar girl with a breast exposed. [but she was a little girl & thus it wasn't a breast per se] And one which is believed to be one of her older sisters as a teen topless. Although that picture's authenticity is disputed on several counts, despite being signed by him o its back. [especially by LC aficionados] There is, though, no doubt that his relationship with the Liddell family ended very abruptly which, of course, fueled the speculation about his having inappropriate relations with one, or more, of the sisters.

As for the young girls photo'd in various states of undress by him apparently things were viewed very differently in that respect to how they are today bc, by all accounts, it wasn't all that uncommon.

And as for him, or any of these, being the Ripper I see that as laughable as you clearly do.

apparently for some of these amateur criminologists, "being in London in autumn 1888" is enough to be put into the suspect file.
real criminologists defer to the big 3: opportunity (was the suspect at the place at the time?), method (was the suspect able to do the thing?) and motive (did the suspect have a reason to do the thing?). until you PLAUSIBLY tik all of those boxes, your suspect is bollocks (am i allowed to say "bollocks" on the interwebs?)

I saw some SHORTS you made for YouTube, they were VERY GOOD. I look forward to your future videos.

I will only take one issue with one thing that you have said here. I don't think that Jack the Ripper was methodical and purposeful. In my eyes all the evidence points to him being reckless, impulsive, and not particularly careful to avoid leaving evidence. There is really no need for him to have been endowed with anything more remarkable than a certain low animal cunning.

Wow, you work late on the w-e don't you. [on this YT project I mean]
Anyhoo, time to watch the presentation you have created.

Other less likely suspects include Leopold, emperor of the Belgians (admittedly not a nice man), and Boston Corbett, who killed Lincoln’s assassin and who was later committed to an asylum but escaped in disappeared in 1888.
There is an account that a French diplomat, at the end of his life confessed that as a teenager he was one of a group of boys who regularly taunted Van Gogh and who finally threatened him with a gun which accidentally went off fatally shooting him. Van Gogh said nothing about what happened before he died.

You have no idea how sick I am of this, people always showing up in every conversation online claiming that H.H. Holmes, Walter Sickert, or Prince Albert were the ripper. You’d have to have a double digit IQ to believe any of those “theories”.
