There is a much easier way to line up the last notes - instead of duplicating the first row of notes and then stretching, duplicate the first row and then remove the last note. When you stretch that, the stretch marker will snap to the grid. No alt+dragging required :)

Wow that was nice my man! I watched the original and wondered how could be done... Thanks for sharing!

For some polyrhythmic ambience, try checking out the various videos of Lucid Rhythms; they're utterly mesmerizing in their simplicity and beauty. Makes me wonder if I can try and reproduce it in a M4L device...now that would be a pretty sweet and fun project to work on.

Saw the original video two days ago and immediately tried to do the same in FL studio (the DAW that I use). It was basically the same process. I used only one midi track, copied each bar and adjusted each "row of notes" accordingly. Nice to know I figured it out.

This is exactly how Virtual Riot did it, according to the pinned comment from the legend himself.

If I'm not mistaking, I recognize your voice and apparently appearance ; I think it was on another channel BUT I learnt how to master my own songs from you !! with softclipping channel eq and limiter. So thank you for that !!

I am wondering if Virtual Riot was inspired by the Lucid Rhythms videos which are even more impressive. Worth checking out. They make their own software which is sonically and visually amazing.

Listen to Steve Reich. VR copies his basic compositional impulse. Reich’s Piano Phase is a good first start.

My question is OP, how does it return on itself ? If there is an offset surely that will continue until the end? Or am I missing something ?

No, honestly, I hope he didn't do it all by hand. But there are something's that don't just magically happen. But using maths can really speed up the process. It's all about fractals and golden ratios and sequences. Then muting irregularities that muddy the work and notes outside specification. Team Polarity. Expand up on what this guy is cooking.

By what amount were the midi notes offset?
