Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 I have this boot since over 3 years and it has been excellent. In harder winter weather, I use the Salewa Blackbird evo, which is also great when carrying a heavy rucksack.

Salewa offer insoles for a snug fit for narrower feet.

I owned the previous version of these boots and they were great. My only issue was that the sales guy described them as a good mountaineering boot but to me they’re really more of a backpacking or trekking boot. They didn’t retain enough rigidity in the sole to qualify for technical steep stuff. (I don’t know if newer versions are stiffer.) Still, a very well made boot.

I’m looking for a solid hiking boot for trails in Colorado for a variety of conditions. How would you contrast this boot to the Lowa Comino? I don’t anticipate backpacking but day hikes.

Salewa recommends taking a half size up. Is that enough or do you go for one size larger than the foot size?

Hi! Having a hard time deciding between these and the Salomon Quest 4D 3 GTX for hiking and trekking. Is one better suited for easier paths than the other? Which one would you recommend? Thanks!

A question please: Is the shape of "Repace" and "Mountain Trainer" (both Salewa) identical in terms of width and other sizing characteristics? The reason I am asking is that I want to replace my Repace (which I have loved) but my size is only available in Mountain Trainer. Thanks.

This boot is NOT waterproof. Once the nubuck leather is wet All the way through, water cannot escape the space between outer and inner (gore Tex) lining. This means, that trappes water is forces through the lining and into the boot. This is a dissapointment and by god my feet where soaking wet.
