It is a great idea to put the wooden frame over the water basin. Restricts the chickens to drinking only. Otherwise they would go into the basin, and cause the water to be dirty.

Lady just thought I see yall have like super sack of feed is that cheaper than growing a chicken feed mix in your pasture and/or sorghum you could get a nice crop from planted chicken mix and from sorghum you could get it three ways seed for feed syrup from stocks and the leftovers from that when mixed with molasses and a mineral and left covered with tarp to ferment winter feed for goats.
