It's actually really hard now since you have a 33% chance of getting it right, there are mid reversal counter grapples, and the counter time is so short.

keyboard users
i for grapple and most of the moves including finishers. timing is important. don't wait for prompt, hit according to opponent's attack animation.
If you miss the grapple, predict the next move(j or k), press the same button.
hold i to block.
j for j(light attacks).
k for k(heavy attacks).

For me the Triangle/Y reversals are ok its the light/heavy reversals that are harder to predict. What you said is true though you have to watch your opponent's playstyle if they're spammy with the light attacks be prepared to counter light or if they're irish whipping a lot then you know you're more likely to counter them with Circle/B. On the ground its harder to tell but the same rules apply. I used to hate the reversal system but after playing a while its actually not that bad.

I am pretty good at guessing the reverses except the spear move especially by edge. It doesn’t show and Ik it is X but doesn’t work

No lie the reversal mechanism is súper trash especially for online . Its like yall killed the fun if they Just spam the Same moves 20x . People tweak their moves to be Unstoppable . Its actually kills. Nobody wants the play with yall spammers

Man they should just have a custom controls option so each player can play how they want. Like Dead By Daylight. (Also, they should have swapped O with X. Makes WAY more sense)

I dont mind having to reverse with multiple buttons but when your opponent spams the same unreversable move over and over and over and over and over again its just useless to play against others.

I'm having a hard time reversing Montez's moves he has these two moves that I feel like I can't reverse.
