Comicdom CON Athens is a three-day international festival exclusively dedicated to comics and their culture. The festival is organized by the Urban Non-Profit Society Comicdom Press .
From 2006 until 2022 , the festival was co-organised by Comicdom Press and the Hellenic American Union , with the premises of the latter hosting the event while, from time to time, bodies such as OPANDA and the French Institute of Greece participated as co-organisers.
In 2021 and 2022 the Festival took place in Klathmonos Square and the Hellenic American Union . From 2023 Comicdom CON Athens will be hosted in the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens (Piraeus 100, Athens).
Since 2006, in an event based on the standards of corresponding international events, the Greek public has been in contact with one of the most interesting forms of Art worldwide, through the presence of internationally acclaimed creators, exhibitions, sketch events, panels, screenings, workshops, presentations of new titles from Greek comics publishers, a bazaar of Greek comics shops and publishing companies, as well as the Greek Comics Awards (they took the place of the Comicdom Awards in 2015), the unique comics awards for Greek creators , in which an Academy of professionals and experts in the field honors the best of the past year.
In the context of Comicdom CON Athens, very successful exhibitions of original works have been organized, in collaboration with renowned international institutions, such as the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum , the Hergé Museum and the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco . Our exhibitions have hosted works by great artists such as Will Eisner, Charles Schulz, Hergé, Neal Adams, Winsor McCay, Jack Davis, Bob Kane, Brian Bolland and others.
Among the guests that Comicdom CON Athens has hosted are big names of the international comics scene, such as John Romita Jr., Bill Tucci, David Lloyd, Scott Lobdell, Peter Milligan, Marv Wolfman, Jean Schulz, Chris Ware, David Prudhomme, Milo Manara, Mike Carey, John Wagner, Jamie Delano and Andrew Wildman .
