This is true, even the mechanicus are disgusted with the iron hands removing parts because they do it out of trauma not for faith.

I truly do think the Tech-Priest practically is taking pity on the marine. While the Mechanicus will replace themselves as a form of improvement, the Iron Hands do so as a form of almost self-punishment.

The iron hands are such a tragicly sad chapter.

The fact that their father whom they grief to the point of self mutilation to somehow cooe with his loss, would hate what his sons have become. That his core of beliefe was that true strength was one of mind and that replacing your weak flesh with augmetics was a crutch that only served to weaken you, is such ahard hit anytime you see them do that to themselves.

Manus actually saw one if their ships from 40K in 30K once due to warp fucjery with time. And he was disguasted by the corpses in the wreck. And said this would never happen to his sons while he lived. He was right in the end

An Iron hand X Mechanicus love story would actually be pretty interesting

Well, the Iron Hands are renowned for their close ties to the mechanicus.

And the worst part is, his sight probably wasnt even the problem.
Even his superhuman eyes and sensors in the helmet can't predict time and spot enemies hidden behind obstacles.
Titans can sporadically do this, because theyr forgotten radar activates from time to time.
But theres no radar that can detect enemy infantry, compact enough to be carried by someone at least.

Priests unwillingness to help is reasonable, caused by Iron Hand seeing the gifts of Omnissiah as a punisment for his suspected failure, instead of a holy blessing.

Very sweet shory. Two things, in the lore I believe Iron Fathers handle this, and in the space marine rpg that is fairly old now, replacing eyes can be a great help.
