Camel crickets giving DMV residents the creeps

They look like scary spiders, live in the dark and can jump more than a foot with each hop. Cold weather brings these hopping invaders inside area homes.

My family tradition is calling them Spickets (spider+cricket) I'm not scared of much but when these things jump at you, you nearly pass away

I have a gecko so I would just let him eat them

BRUH!!! We used to have these under our old wooden patio. They got into the recycling bin and at night if you bumped it, you would hear at least 20-50 of them moving around and jumping; one of my most skin crawling experiences.

I have a phobia of grasshoppers and crickets in general but these literally make me wanna pass out when i see one.

Couple weeks ago saw one crawl into my bathroom freaked out grabbed the biggest heaviest box i could find and slammed it down where it was and stepped on the box and i havent moved it since. My mom came over and was like why is there a smashed chewy box in the bathroom i said dont worry about it.

Today is 9/30/22 & I live in Maryland. The reason I looked this info up is because I was just about to go to bed when I saw one of these things in my hallway. Thank goodness I had some Ortho Home Defense & kept spraying his hopping ass. It eventually keeled over. I grabbed it up with a napkin, put it in a trash bag & threw it away. Yuck!!

Ewwww never saw one of them until today I was using my phone and when I turned around to get my headphones I see that nasty black insect frozen on the floor. It took me 7 minutes to have to courage to exterminate its existence lol

I just discovered the existence of these guys today and they weirded me out. I googled what they were, came back to catch one I saw, and poof! It was gone.

I saw one of these bastards crawling on my floor 2 months ago, killed him, and went on with my day. To my horror I just saw 3 of these little rascals running across my floor. There’s definitely more somewhere. HOW DO I GET RID OF THEM.

Glue traps work amazing for these little shits. Sadly you must be prepared to catch mammals like mice who wander onto the trap.
