The Reimagining the Latinx Experience in America Book Talk Series hosts Professors Michelle Holder and Alan Aja to discuss their book, Afro-Latinos in the US Economy with Dr. Danielle Clealand as commentator.

Michelle Holder is an Associate Professor of Economics at John Jay College, City University of New York. She is also a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth in Washington, D.C., and served as president of the organization 2021-2022.

Alan A. Aja is professor and chair in the Department of Puerto Rican and Latino Studies. His research interests include the racial wealth gap, education policy, economic democracy, collective action and sustainability.

Danielle Pilar Clealand is a political scientist and an associate professor of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies with a courtesy appointment in the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her work overall, highlights black solidarity, struggle and voice through an interdisciplinary lens. Her research examines racial politics in the Caribbean and the United States, a research path influenced by her personal connection to the Caribbean and my life as a Black Puerto Rican in the many spaces of the U.S.
