The comeback of cursive...in some provinces at least

The writing is on the wall for grade three teachers in Ontario.
They will once again be teaching cursive handwriting.
It's been optional for 17 years however this fall it is mandatory.
But is that skill necessary in 2023?
Especially when a generation of teachers may have themselves missed out on learning handwriting?
