Another feature created by lightning is the mountain Shiprock. Recently, there was a lightning bolt that struck a golf course and created a 1 foot tall pillar, and the razor edge ridges going from it, just like in New Mexico. That lightning was 1 inch wide.

You forgot about all the dormant volcanoes in eastern Arizona near the new Mexico border just around the white mountains area from show Low eastward to springervill and st Jhons all filed with Extinct and dormant volcanoes.

Not picking on your new Zealand subject but there are two super volcanos in New Zealand taupo and rotorua some say there connected but lake rotorua is a large caldera and is not as big but in the city of rotorua there are mud pools throughout the hole township
