Показать описание
Punu-punu is a traditional chant belonging to the Kamaiurá tribe based in the Xingu area of Brazil.
Mãe da Lua learnt it while she was staying with them.
She's been told that the lyrics are about a woman from the tribe who was very sad and decided to enter the forest alone. She couldn't stop crying until a bird which was singing beautifully went close to her, taught her that melody and told her to sing it so that she would have healed.

Mãe da Lua has been researching indigenous chants and songs from several tribes, and strongly believes in their importance even in contemporary society. Doesn't matter if they might sound modern or different from their original version, their message and intention are equally strong.

This song is from the album Mãe da Lua by Kalibé.
Voice: Mãe da Lua
Arrangement, guitar, kalimba: Matteo Crugnola
Choir: Maggie Pitzalis, Elisa Lomazzi, Astrid Quintero Reyes, Valentina Volontè.

Video filmed and edited by Matteo Crugnola
