Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.

Wrong. Everything is 4.6% more expensive - that 4.6% applied to the previous inflation that is still there !!! Also. Why are the government allowed to tell us that we are taxed on the retail price of petrol which sounds MUCH lower than if the tax were calculated against the COST price of the petrol ? Again - this gets compounded with inflation even when inflation falls. Tax on inflation, inflation on tax, tax on inflation - inflation on inflation and on the compounding goes. (sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology.)

Actually governments have 2 ways of helping in easing inflation. 1. Is increasing taxes so consumers have less money to spend and inflation goes down. Second is lowering the government spending so prices go down as well.
And I think Sunak government did both this year so yeah they helped in easing inflation or at least not making it worse.

Great thoughts Chris and I agree with you for the most part. However, I feel interest rates will come down a lot sooner. I'm no professional just my gut feel. Plus I hope so as i went on a tracker mortgage from Aug with the hope BOE base rate drops. It was a roll of the dice, I just hope it happens soon.

According to Hunt in the summer, the halving target was core inflation. That has nowhere near halved. Guess what, they are lying...quelle surprise.

Didn't CPI just go up by 0.4% in November so we are at 5%

🎊Thanks lockdowns🎉

You made the working class really appreciate how little they can survive on.
What's more, you've prepared their kids for future VR classrooms, isolation & totalitarianism. Oh fun!

Too bad you managed to give the top 1% so much cash they have to now deal with.
All that counting, depositing, and managing must be making them absolutely miserable.

To be fair though Chris, inflation wasn’t the government’s doing either. So if we are going to blame them for it, seems fair they get credit for drops in inflation…
