Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch), an aimless aspiring writer with no friends, no romantic prospects and — worst of all — no followers, fakes an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of boosting her social media clout. When a terrifying incident strikes the City of Lights, Danni unwittingly falls into a lie bigger than she ever imagined. She "returns" a hero, even striking up an unlikely friendship with Rowan (Mia Isaac), a real trauma survivor dedicated to societal change, and scooping up the man of her dreams Colin (Dylan O'Brien). As an influencer and advocate, Danni finally has the life and audience she always wanted. But it’s only a matter of time before the façade cracks, and she learns the hard way that the Internet loves a takedown.

Cast: Zoey Deutch, Dylan O'Brien, Mia Isaac

For my job I payed a course about instagram marketing and the teacher who was an influencer said also “fake it till you make it”. The society tell to awkward sensitive and shy people like me to “fake it till you make it”, every coach or self-help writer tell “fake it till you make it”, so this movie is a reflection of our society. To the extreme. It’s not only Danny. She fakes till she makes but risking it all.

Trailer makes it seem all light and full of jokes but this is such a sad and deep movie. Zoey comes through and Mia Isaac shines as Rowan

I just finished watching the movie. It is indeed a dark comedy but I like it. Although it gave me a lot of anxiety and second hand embarassment. Props to Zoey Deutch for her amazing performance and to the movie's talented director, Quinn Shephard. Looking forward for more movies directed by her.

I think with this movie - it's interesting to watch a character you know is insecure and feels misunderstood lie and do the wrong thing in order to get what she THINKS she wants. Watching the main character make mistakes - how does that make you feel? Does she still deserve redemption - even if her mistakes were obviously due to severe lack of self-love, insecurity, anxiety and loneliness? Her situation is extreme and probably unrealistic, but people tend to live their life as a lie on other subtle levels - whether it's lying to our family/friends that we're happy when we suffer from daily anxiety and worries or lying about our personalities and values to "get" with someone (romantic or not). I think it's not just about influencers, social media reflects how we feel about ourselves on the inside. How can we better love ourselves just by being satisfied with what we have, instead of wanting and needing more? This is such a universal theme at the moment. I think travelling to small countries and communities (and studying) can really enlighten a lot of us.

It's amazing how different the tone of this movie comes across from the teaser and the trailer. Still excited to watch it!

I went into it with very low expectations but ended up liking it. It took a bit of a dark twist I wasn't expecting. It should more recognition

I see a lot of people saying this trailer makes the movie look like a light hearted comedic film and that the movie turns dark, but a subject surrounding a terrorist attack literally is not lighthearted at all. This movie handles the subject of trauma well so it does have a different tone than that of the trailer. I got a bit teary-eyed at many parts of the movie because I couldn't imagine dealing with anything so traumatic and having the will to even help myself, so it got a bit jarring to watching the protagonist be tone-deaf. Anyway this was a really well done film and I recommend anyone reading this to watch it.

I love that this seems to be a send up of "Emily in Paris", I'm excited for this satire!

This movie was actually really good! It had very modern themes and addressed issues facing Gen Z, specifically the facade of social media, social justice, and privilege. I would love to see more like this

I watched this movie for Zoey Deutch and do not get me wrong she is amazing in this, but I definitely stayed because of Mia Isaac because she was breathtaking at this role and the final monologue is a masterpiece.
This movie was definitely not what I was expecting from trailer but it was worth it for the end.

George Mason did the same thing with faking the holiday. This movie is using all his ideas (croissant pic, almost touching Eiffel Tower, ...)

I had to stop watching this movie like three times from the cringiness and anxiety it gave me
the worst part is that it is a pretty accurate portrayal of how the internet goes
her ending would be staying away from social media for like a year and then staring to make content again cuz she got that clout
also creates a very interesting debate, particularly on cancel culture

This idea was stolen from a YouTube content creator called George Mason. His video was posted over 3 years ago, this is not a coincidence
