Johnson plan to suspend UK parliament sparks anger

Queen Elizabeth II will be asked on Wednesday to approve a plan to suspend the United Kingdom's parliament in order to push through a "no-deal" withdrawal from the European Union, it has emerged.

MPs are due to return to work after their summer holidays next Tuesday, but the parliamentary session will likely be suspended by the end of the week.

On Tuesday, six opposition parties came together to pledge unified legislative action to block a no-deal Brexit, likely by forcing through a new law to delay the Brexit date. Many economists, politicians and experts agree this would be disastrous for the UK economy.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has repeatedly vowed that Britain would leave the EU with or without a deal - "do or die" in his words - on October 31.

On the 6th June 1944 over 4000 people died storming the Normandy beaches to protect parliamentary democracy
and prevent dictators forcing through their desires, and also to bring harmony to europe.
The suspension of UK parliment 25 years later to avoid discussing brexit is a grave dishonour to that sacrifice.

Shows all that the UK is a circus (and not a very good one at that). Scotland should leave it. Poor young Brits. Having such a PM. A joke

The legal default is a no deal (as agreed by Parliament) as the Withdrawal Agreement has been rejected three times by Parliament and the EU have said many times they will not change it. Boris is following the guidance already in place, given by Parliament, on both Article 50 and the Withdrawal Agreement so what is the problem?

The best thing to happen to the UK this century. Get out of this mess with the EU and run your own country as you see fit. The EU is starved of funds, we dont need to support other countries, we have areas at home where these funds can be put to good use .UK will still do good business with the EU, just on our terms. There plenty of business with other countries to take up any slack. Be proud to run your own country again without outside interference. Given some time the UK will be thankful to control our own destination, without these hangers on waiting for a handout. Stop being dictated to, be courageous, get your self esteem and respect back again. Just do it !!!

How democratic can it be, when "elected officials" don't deliver what the people want?

The UK is acting like the drunken loudmouthed jerk who spends the entire night yelling at everyone and threatening to leave...
And yet he never ever goes...
Please figure a way for you to just go! I live in Amsterdam and I have yet to hear anyone say how they wish the UK wouldn't leave.
Sure no one wants the EU to suffer, but about the UK itself? No one seems to care much or worry about your departure. Sorry.

Politics are gridlocked. Drastic measures may break it.

In India we have anti-defection law so that everybody obeys their party whip. It is successful in avoiding deadlock, but it destroys the very essence of democracy.

I think its the very human nature, to have conflicts, especially with the one who rules. But at some point you got to pull the breaks. We cant allow conflicts to go on for so long, that it posses threat to integrity of nation.
