Sawyer tells Jack about how me met his father before crashing on the island. One of my favorite scenes of the entire show. 1.23 Exodus

"See, kids are like dogs, you knock em around enough, they'll think they did something to deserve it." Gives me chills every. single. time. Impeccable acting.

Mathew Fox and Josh Holloway nailed this scene. Damn I miss this show.

Not enough people talk about how good Matthew Fox is at facial acting. The guy does so much with his face!

This is the kindest thing that Sawyer ever did for Jack. Jack so badly needed to hear this, he needed this catharsis, so he could stop blaming himself for his father's death. And Sawyer knew he might never get another chance to tell him. Such a great scene ❤

One of the best scenes in the show! So many layers to it! Incredible character development.

Jack's eyes get me every time. He really needed to hear that.

If this show was released today Matthew Fox would get much more acclaim, he’s actually brilliant

The setup of this scene is just genius. The characters are rivals up to this point in the series. You have Jack who departed on bad terms with his father. Despite of his anger and hate towards his father its pretty obvious that he cares for the man. You have Sawyer who despite of some of his less knightly history and appearance can't help but to do the right thing. Both of them have the usual assumptions and prejudice about the other person. Jack might be the character that this scene is made for (it is about his father after all) but it is Sawyer (or James rather) who's the most ironic person to relay the story to him.

I think you can see it the moment Sawyer is going "He's proud. And he loves him." He's probably just being sympathetic. But the fact that he lost his parents as a kid makes it painfully ironic. He would have wanted to hear those words from his parents. But he didn't. And he can't. So I think that he is doing this for himself as much as he is doing this for Jack. That look on Sawyer's face when Jack is about to leave at 1:00 is just priceless. You can almost see him going, "Damn, I should just keep my mouth shut. But..."

"something tells me he never got around to making that call" is the line that gets me

Sawyer is probably the most loving person. he's so disturbed and broken but he still has live to give

Can’t believe this scene is 20 years old now, only seems like yesterday when I first watched it, I was 23 at the time, I’m 43 now, and this for me was the best scene in the whole series. Time really does fly.

These two are the perfect example of how the charisma and affection the actors have really shine through regardless of how the characters are supposed to feel about each other. So great

I love how this is one of the few moments were Sawyer isn't calling someone by a nickname. He actually calls Jack, 'Jack' and not Doc or some other quip he has. He respected this moment by respecting Jack.

So glad I decided to rewatch Lost as an adult. You just don't appreciate how powerful this is as a teenager.

Still my favourite scene in Lost. The acting is just incredible and love how it ends up being these two polar opposites who connect over something so tender and genuine.
