I have found that running cleans up my diet, too. The unhealthy cravings go away and I tend to think about food being fuel for my body, and make good food choices. Missing workouts sort of derails me (at least for a time), where I may consume too much sugar, experience joint inflammation and low energy, and then avoid working out.

Good video. I ❤ running

I loathed running for 58 years until I changed to a wfpbd lifestyle

Absolut agree runing is meditation no phone no music just the sound of nature. For me it´s absolut relaxing to here the birds (now it´s spring in Germany). If I have to run in the dark and in the woods I sit down on a bench and do only listen to creaking trees for some minutes. Calms me down (we have a lot of wild boars here I don´t want to met). Bonus tip from me: If you are not motivated because of rain, wind or snow - just put your runing gear on. After this "expense" you go no matter what. Greetings

Great video, David. I miss my running. I'm still struggling to get back to it due to the arthritis and im trying to find the right equilibrium. I have to find better knee braces. I'll get there, but it's slow going. It's Weird to think this time last year I was running every day and about 30 miles a week. 😢
Take care.

Wow. I’m currently taking a break from running. First break since I started 5 years ago and it’s because I’ve kinda been having the opposite reaction to you. The sleep thing I’m tired but wired so can’t sleep, my legs and back constantly hurting and stiff and I’m putting all down to too much running, so I guess we can do too much of a good thing. And as for the diet, after a long run all I want is junk food im so hungry

Wow. 180. Is it back to normal now or are you still working on it? I was worried when I had my blood pressure checked a few weeks ago and it was 145. My running HR has come down a lot since then, so hopefully my blood pressure has too, and I managed a 16km run in Z2 yesterday, despite the 34C heat, so slowly improving again. Take care of yourself!

How long did it take for your sleeping to get good, I have just started running for about 2 mnths and finding that I seem to be more wired and still have lots of energy. I am carrying an extra 100lbs of unhealthy weight which I will be so happy to get rid of.

Your trail reminds me of home (I grew up on a farm near Peterborough but live in Chicago now).

When I'm running more, I sleep like death (but in a good way). My resting heart rate is down in the 40s now, and even while walking it barely gets above 60. I laughed when you said your wife told you to go for a run. I only started running during the pandemic at 47. One day out of the blue my wife said: "You know, somewhere along the line, it became weird if you don't go out for a run every few days. Also, you GET weird if you don't go out for a run for more than a few days."

Selfishly, I like running because it's the one thing that I do for myself. All the rest is either for work or taking care of the family (I have two young kids, so it's 7 days a week of cooking, sports, piano, homework). People can't yell at me or yammer at me or ask me to do stuff while I'm running.
