Glad to see someone finally mentioning the SDE/Filter. Having owned both Odysseys it doesn't really bother me and the image is so much nicer than LCD panels. But why is Tyriel the first one to mention it?

I'm so glad you mention the filter and fuzziness on the screen...I thought I was going crazy as I noticed it straight away in horizon and this was the first time in the headset and I couldn't believe it as I've only heard one person mention it and they say oh you can't really notice it or well on some headsets it's worst than others ....I feel people choose to ignore it . ...I messaged my pal straight away and said I was under whelmed with it .

I feel like in my second run I just got used to it being there ...though I found it prominent in horizon and kayak mirage but not star wars as the first part is really dark .

Want to return mine that mura/filter dirty look absolutely destroys the image quality. Even RE8 darkscenes look really bad completely overriding the black benefit oled is supposed to bring

04:40 Sony went with more expensive OLED's with RGB stripe subpixels. As they did in PSVR 1. So they are not pentile.

Thank you for calling it out. I am not impressed that I can see so much texture and fuzziness when I’m the dark. The lenses in passthrough seem like medical lenses and cause headaches. You have to be very precise to get the right image and not everything is as crisp as I thought it would be. Not gonna lie I kinda regret it. I feel the Quest 3 despite not being thethered for better graphics will feel much better over all… graphics in these games did not impress me all that much. People mentioned that it would be the first time I would forget I was in VR due to immersion but I actually felt like I was more in VR considering the fuzziness, blurriness, and in game textures. Then we get to the cinema mode… why is it I feel the cinema mode in SkyBox on quest 2 is a million times better? It has no customization like SkyBox does and due to my previous gripes, it doesn’t make playing games feel better as many have said. I’d rather keep playing on a TV. Unless they bring some amazing games in the future I may not put this back on. I also have had a headache these past 2 days because of this thing that I never got on Quest 2 and I love VR and have my VR legs fully developed. It’s a shame I really was looking forward to this

Man you hit the nail on the head. Nobody mentioned the filter and I’m really disappointed by the picture because of it. I’m a VR vet and I would much rather have LCD rather than the filter with OLED.

Just returned mine. I don't know if it was broken but it was way too blurry. Couldn't even read the subtitles.

I'm feeling very underwhelmed with my PSVR2. The screens are so blurry, especially on the corners/far edges of lenses. There's also a colour haze effect, where for example white text ghosts with a blue/purple tint.

Reading text is a strain and I can't immerse myself in the experience as all I can focus on is the poor image quality. It doesn't help that the headset is really uncomfortable and difficult to sit in a position that provides optimal viewing.

What am I missing here? This thing cost a fortune and supposedly is high end hardware with 4K screens?

Completely new to VR, homest question. Is this just the nature of VR and as good as it gets? If so, I wouldn't have wasted my money. If not, what am I doing wrong? Defective unit?

Hello. I’ve spent ages playing with the calibration to make my visual better but I can’t get a crisp view. Even in pass through. It’s very grainy and low resolution. Do you think it’s possibly a defected headset?

I have already started my refund process. The fuzzy is so bad that it is giving me motion sickness, which I rarely get. Just something feels off on the PSVR2 and I was extremely excited. I am going to hold my money for meta 3 or Apple VR. I feel like PSVR2 was just an HD upgrade and other headsets bring a bit more to the VR space then just graphics and rumble.

Hey Tyriel, how do you find the reprojection artifacts in HCotM and RE8 (native 60FPS games reprojected to 120FPS)? Are you experiencing any headaches or nausea on these games with smooth turning/locomotion turned on?

So good to finally see an honest review Tyriel. I feel like every YTer is gushing over the PSVR2 because of the great clarity, but the majority of them have been using a Quest to review games in the past. Of course its going to look better!

Also interesting that the majority of the glowing reviews on YT are by people sent a headset by Sony....just saying!

I’ll be honest, I’ve not been very impressed with the headset. I think I had hyped it up in my head way too much but it turned out to not be dramatically different from my Quest 1 in terms of visual fidelity, which also uses OLED. Like, it definitely has a higher pixel density but the screen door effect is present, and it’s hard to find a perfect sweet spot for clarity. I’ve also noticed the headset struggling to track the left controller in a brightly lit and spacious room, which I’ve found odd. Of course the other problem is there’s pretty slim pickings in terms of stuff you can do with the headset at the moment with very few new games and it doesn’t even have stuff we take for granted like Netflix VR and Amazon Prime Video VR which I use often for watching movies and stuff. I’m hoping there are more games and experiences to come. If you’re on the fence about this headset, or you already have a Quest or something similar then my advice is to wait.

That is the most important thing in a YT tech reviewer.. having me & my purse as a viewer in mind, and letting honesty take center.
Im fed up with greased influencers.. we have them in bulk on social media, so we could feet pigs with them.

It's good, but not as great as I expected. I found myself adjusting the headset to find the best quality spot because it was blurry.
