it's a bit tricky at first, to make T, S, SH, G, K and K-ch sounds with just your tongue, and the right lip smacks for P and B, but it makes the words much more easily intelligable. mastering those is really the whole trick using a tlakbox

With enough practice and the right technique, you can talk pretty coherently using a talkbox. There's even a band, TWRP, whose lead singer uses it for pretty much all his vocals.
