Lockboxes work if you attach them on a horizontal surface like for example, on the inside of a bumper where there is sometimes a shelf.

What about vibrations loosening that nut over time? I'd probably use some loctite green or purple so it won't vibrate loose but is also still able to be removed by hand. Also might want to use a stainless steel bolt and nut or something that won't rust over time.

Great idea one problem. I live in the northeast & in 1 year that wing nut & bolt will rust so bad you will need a torch to get it apart.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the oxygen sensor on the muffler? So that shroud above it is going to be super hot, and besides that you may even burn your hand trying to get that off

Most keys today aren't flat like that anymore. They usually have a chip in them. At least since about year 2000 models.

1. find a good hidey-hole or drill one 2. thread a ziptie through the hole and key 3. zip it

That is great way to hide a key, but the key will get all rusted then be come useless!
