I can relate. Whenever I try to convince my friends to watch "Plankton Farts & Dies" with me, they start acting all weird and uninterested.

The car accident was caused by Man. He tried to not hit the other vehicle but he never misses, the absolute legend!

I don't watch Studio ghibli because I am fully aware they will fuck me up mentally. I'm not ready for warm feelings of love and childhood wonder.

Okay but this guy’s still more reasonable than the guy who won’t watch it because “cartoons are for kids”

The saddest thing is that my Ex-Girlfriend watched a movie from this studio with me the day before we broke up, and now I can't even watch another movie from them without remembering that.

As someone who’s never seen a studio ghibli movie i find this accurate

I remember being traumatized as a kid when watching the pig scene from spirited away afraid I'd too turn into a pig

i can’t tell if you invented an archetype to make fun of or if this is a real person i should be concerned about

There's a certain point when anything is popular that you get told to watch something so much that it starts to annoy you and you know nothing real could live up to the unrealistic standards the diehard fans have

When/if they finally feel like watching it they'll enoy it more than being forced to watch it

Studio Ghibli is such a rabbit hole. People are so unwilling to give it a second chance if they don't happen to connect with the first one they watch. However, if you DO connect with the first one you watch, you're in the cult and you're never leaving.

For me, Studio Ghibli films are the epitome of the "I'll get around to it one day. It's not like it's going away..." kind of film.

No one carries Thing like Man. The pure artistry with which he comports said Thing is truly awe-inspiring. Man has proven once again that he is incapable of missing, the absolute legend. 2.64/5

"It's so interesting."
"What is?"
"Yeah."

This man has reached god-level tiers of relatable

I was expecting "it's animated, like a cartoon and cartoons are for kids, I am an adult" type of argument

Hayao Miyazaki is how I got my dad to appreciate animated films/shows! I got him to watch Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind with me and he was blown away by it. He watched all his other projects and then all the Studio Ghibli movies and then I showed him Avatar: the Last Airbender and Into the Spiderverse! His animation education continues and it's so much fun to see him discover the art and depth in this form of storytelling.

I feel really called out by this video, oh dear. The only reason I haven't watched Ghibli is because people keep telling me how good it is and I don't want to admit they were right.

It’s always going to be there, ready to be watched and there’s always people wanting to know your opinion on it too, so I just do other stuff cause those two things will never go away. One day I’ll get around watching it.

Also I want to go in without any bias or anything like that. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched or read something that I probably would’ve enjoyed but because of people over hyping it I end up feeling disappointed by it. Once that feeling goes away and I get the urge to watch studio ghibli films, that’s when I’ll watch it.

You don't even have to like anything about them to enjoy them. They are worthwhile even if they do not appeal to you at all. But a thing happens where people talking about something so much burns you out before you even think to watch or listen.
