I'm not sure I knew it was edible. I have a few in the yard but have never eaten it. I should plant a few more.

It's funny that I saw this today, my mom died recently and she loved her Hollyhocks. Thank the gods she saved her seeds because now I can always have them as a reminder in my new garden. 😌

I have been rescuing antique varieties of Holly Hocks for 20 yrs!
10 yrs ago I had 43 different flower variations growing.

When so many videos such as yours say they're a cold loving plant or they enjoy the cold or can tolerate the cold it's worrisome for someone that lives in Florida and has invested so much in them!

I've always loved hollyhocks. My Mother used to make little "ladies" from the flowers.

Bought a property where hollyhocks keep reseeding themselves. I've never interacted with them once and they keep coming back. No pruning, no cutting, no planting, nothing. This year I decided to add a few varieties to the mix including a black flower variety. Let's hope they are just as easy.

I planted these just as a random flower and was surprised they stay green all year round up here in the Seattle area. I had no idea they were edible!

Here in So Cal, I have the deep purple flower version. I also have a ton of seeds should you find anyone who needs them I am happy to help. I bought them as marshmallow seeds but found out it is probably hollyhock, but I don't mind as they have the same medicinal qualities. I make tea from it and love it. I also cut, dry and use the old stems/stalks to stake up other plants. They get about 6-7' tall so very useful!

Hollyhocks are part of a cottage garden here in England too, though no humming birds to visit unfortunately!

I got hollyhock bc they were so simple to grow and they are pretty. I had no idea they were edible 😂 now from what I read they are short lived preninual. They live for 2-4 years and die but reseed. I have grown to love them bc they are so easy to grow and care for. This just makes me love my hundreds of hollyhock even more 🥰

I love HH. I planted along a fence line and it then became stomping grounds by my dog. I haven't tried them again and need to so bad because I love them so much. Since you love HH, tell me what you think about Mullein? It's the most wonderful weed in the world.
