NCW chief makes a shocking statement on Manipur women viral video

National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma said that she had made three attempts to contact authorities in Manipur over incidents of violence against women in the last three months, but received no response from them. She also told that NCW got complaints regarding violence against women in Manipur, but not specifically about the content in the viral video. Sharma refuted claims of receiving a complaint on June 12 about the incident of two women being paraded naked on May 4 in the violence-hit northeastern state. In fact, she denied receiving any report of such an incident. She clarified that she had indeed received other complaints regarding women's issues, and she had reached out to authorities in Manipur three times regarding those matters, but there was still no response from them. Sharma shared the letters she had sent to the state authorities, dated May 18, May 29, and June 19. After the video of the May 4 incident surfaced online on July 19, Sharma took suo motu cognizance of the matter and sought an explanation from the authorities. The video has led to heightened tension in the hills of Manipur as it shows two women from one community being paraded naked by a group of men from the other community.

NCW Chairperson utterly failed in her duty to seriously take up the cases of atrocities against hundreds of women in Manipur since last 75 days and she is telling that she referred the issues to State Govt. If she is appointed only to refer the cases to State Govt, like postman, then why she is appointed as Chief of NCW. It's horrible to listen to her. She is referring the issues to state Govt, which is evading from its responsibilities and remaining as silent spectator. What a great tragedy in India . Shame on her. She should immediately submit her resignation as BCW chairperson accepting her failure to take up the cases of atrocities on women in Manipur seriously.

By her words anybody can understand that she was not seriously looking into the incidents, all efforts she did are an eyewash just to tell the people and show that she did act on the incidents. One can't understand when supreme court take case on suo moto basis, why can't these people do the same. When cm of Manipur did not respond to her letter, she kept herself mum and waiting for response.
Here this is to anyone's common sense as how anybody expects sincere action from people when all these inhuman, barbarous and shameful incidents happened right in front of law enforcing agencies allegedly and evidently with their support.
